Having wet your appetite with yesterdays ten through to six HERE, we continue our list of your favourite local eateries from the past 12 months, revealing what has been rated as the top place to dine at for 2018.

#5 of the top restaurants in Middlesbrough according to Trip Advisor, The Curing House

#5. The Curing House
21-23 Bedford Street, Middlesbrough, TS1 2LL

Part of the revamped Bedford Street and Baker Street quarter, this unique independently run charcuterie restaurant bar offering brunch, dinner and a fabulous Sunday Lunch, as well as takeaway service, has received many a rave review for its food, charm, service and wine selection.

Once such review was from Ian, who enjoyed the "attentive and friendly" service with his medium rare;

"Steak perfectly cooked... really good peppercorn sauce. Malbec was really very good.

"Will definitely be back and love this area of Boro."

We can only agree Ian. 

Update: Sadly The Curing House is no longer with us, but DO check out The Mustard Tree, an exciting new venue that has opened in its place

#4. The Fork in the Road
133 Linthorpe Road, Middlesbrough, TS1 5DE

A fantastic initiative setup by local businessman and philanthropist Andy Preston, The Fork in the Road enables dinners to enjoy a fabulous meal with the added bonus of knowing in doing so they are giving back to the local community. 

Providing vital employment opportunities through their programme dedicated to "those who need a helping hand", the food and service is that of a top class restaurant.  

Describing The Fork in the Road as "a GEM!!" the interestingly named 'Screwloose' who was enjoying a return visit commented;

I brought a friend to experience it and he had a wonderful time. Great food and the service was with a smile... would recommend!"

#3. Meze Lounge
240 Linthorpe Road, Middlesbrough, TS1 3QP

If you're a lover of "fine authentic Turkish cuisine" the Meze Lounge is the place for you; and it seems the local's of Boro have fallen for these essential Eastern flavours. 

Promising "a rich tapestry of tastes and atmosphere all perfected in the kitchens of the Sultans palaces from the Ottoman era" regular dinner and recent reviewer 'lovinboro' proclaims "this place never fails to please."

They continue; "Absolutely beautiful food, service, staff and restaurant. Everything is beautifully seasoned. 

"This place is my number one favourite restaurant."

#2. Turtle Bay

With an ever evolving menu, comprising of old and new favourites, plus Happy Hour 2-for-1 Cocktails or Mocktails, Turtle Bay is a venue perfect for #DateNight's or just having a #GreatNightOut as testified by Carol and Vicky;

"We had such a great night by starting at Turtle Bay in Middlesbrough. The whole experience was a 10/10."

"We had one of the best nights here at the bar/restaurant. Food is always amazing."

#1. Persian Cottage
2 Benson Street, Linthorpe Road, Middlesbrough, TS5 6JQ

Serving Persian & Mediterranean cuisine, this independent, family owned restaurant grants dinners the opportunity to go back in time and explore exquisite flavours "dating back 15 centuries."

With a bountiful menu, including Persian classics like Ghormeh Sabzi and Fesenjan or Mediterranean favourites like Tabboleh and Hummus, this is a place that once visited, you are sure to return. 

"FANTASTIC. Held my daughter's 30th birthday there, 15 of us. They were outstanding from start to finish, food and service faultless" was the review from 'DJG' from Darlington.

"Lovely, unpretentious food served with a smile" glowed repeat visitor Celia, whilst Louise was also impressed with her visit; 

"Delicious! The food here is fantastic. Really tasty. The staff were super friendly and helpful. Can't wait to go back and try something else!!
